Global Glory® - Shavuot

Shavuot begins Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014, 18 minutes before sunset. It is celebrated for two days. It is a celebration of joy for the harvest.  It is the 50th day since Pesach (Passover). It is traditionally celebrated as the day that the Torah was given to Moses on Mt. Sinai. It is the birthday of Judaism. When God gave the Law, there was fire on the mount and quaking. The Greek name for Shavuot is Pentecost. Shavuot was also the birthday of the Church. There were tongues of fire and the place was shaken as the Holy Spirit was given (Ac 2:1-4).  There was great joy and a spiritual harvest. At Mt. Sinai the Torah (Law) was on the outside; now the Law is inside; written on the heart. At Mt. Sinai 3,000 died (Ex 32:28); at Mt. Zion 3,000 were given New Life (Ac 2:41). Shavuot fulfilled.
